Ok, so here's what has been happening these past weeks:
It's done--I've finished my Master's thesis!! So if you ever wondered just how the events of September 11, 2001 influenced the mainstream Hollywood film, drop me a line.
Right after I handed in my thesis, we went on a 2-week camping trip to the beautiful Côte d'Argent (again). Lots of sun, more surfing. Got myself a great board, too--a 7'4" funboard, nicely shaped, extremely light yet with sufficient buoyancy, it's a perfect match!
And finally, I'm no longer a Twen! But I must say, standing on this side of 30, I don't feel a day older than 29! (Well, maybe two days older! ;-)
The next thing will be my final exams at the end of September, and after that--who knows! All I can say is, there's a lot of options. We'll see.

Why, Kanye, Why?!

Ok, Status Quo, to be expected. Sailin' Rod Stewart, granted. Elton John, naturally. Tom Jones, yeah, yeah, yeah. Nelly Furtado, I couldn't care less.
But Kanye West playing at that stupid Concert 4 Diana? No way!!!
What happened? My only explanation was, he must've been getting shitloads of money, but no--all the money went to some charity! So what the fuck?! He wasn't even singing his own lyrics! "I ain't saying she's a gold digger, but she ain't messing with no broke negro"?! That shit doesn't even rhyme!! And let's not forget to mention that he looked like a goddamn fool with those glasses!
Well. I liked him better when he was in his "George Bush doesn't care about black people" phase, is all I'm saying.

Cheney, Checks, and Balances

Short follow-up to the previous post:
The Denver Post's cartoonist Mike Keefe came up with this concerning the VP's hybris:
(via Today's Best Cartoons.)

Cheney to US: "Go fuck yourself!"

The Daily Show rips into Dick Cheney's latest subtle move towards fucking democracy up the ass.
Have a look:

Words fail me...

UPDATE 17Aug07: Since Comedy Central chooses to delete the video links after a month or so, here's a link to the same video via Crooks and Liars.

Banksy Does Paris

This is awesome:
Appearently, guerrilla artist Banksy has tampered with moron princess Paris 'Jailbird' Hilton's CDs in stores around the UK. Have a look at this video (via UbuWeb):

Utter, utter brilliance!

Weird Weight

This comes via BoingBoing:
Weird Converter lets you know how much one weird thing weighs in regard to some other strange thing. So how many Jennifer Anistons would you need to equal Tom Cruise? 1.8181818182.
Also, you'd need 3.1893853482 average bowel movements to fill one 600cc breast implant--I'll let you figure out yourself what you make of this little snippet of information!
Oh, and the whole thing works with length, as well; otherwise, how would I know that it would take 67191601.06666666 flaccid penises to measure the Great Wall of China?

Commenting on the last post, annA hints at this pretty cool viral-style commercial from Quiksilver--in lack of waves, go DIY!
I wasn't able to figure out whether this thing is actually a viral authorized by Quiksilver or just a video with the Quiksilver logo added at the end--but since this is the essence of viral marketing, who gives a damn? It's a neat film, in any case.

Surf's Up!

Another quiet couple of weeks have gone by, and there's a good reason for it: I had to go surfing! (And not on the Internet, either, but the real waveriding deal!) Traveling conditions were just too good to say no, so I went to the Cote d'Argent with a couple of friends. Surfing gets better--have a look:

Also, while visiting Bordeaux (btw--a really cool city!) I happened along this graffiti late one night:

If it wasn't Banksy himself, it sure looks like one of his.
And finally, this vacation marked my first experience losing a tire while driving at roughly 80 km/h. Looks a little something like this:

Everyone came out unscathed and we were all richer for the experience, so that's that.
Anyway, hope y'all are still out there. I'll catch up and keep the posts coming.
